| My May 17th in Oslo: Martin, Finland |
|
1. Number of May 17th experiences in Oslo:One 2. What I like about May 17th: The positive and happy feeling in the celebrations. Norwegians seem to have the skill to feel proud and happy about their country without giving it the overly patriotic tone seen in many other countries. I always find patriotism a bit worrysome, since it can border on a sort of egocentric racism. 3. Most amazing/funny single experience I have seen on May 17th: Seeing all these girls in bonad partying out in the middle of the night. In Finland it is first of all really hard to get any teenager or young adult to wear a national costume, unless they belong to some kind of folk dance group. And those who do wear it, wear it only at dances or weddings.
